Platelet concentrates and their variability · the hair-loss evidence read honestly · combination treatments and what they do not show
Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.
On this review his part is the difference between a material and a treatment, and the difference between a combination and a result. He describes a point-of-care preparation as one whose composition depends on the protocol used, and he does not let a concentration quoted in a brochure stand in for an outcome. On hair he describes the evidence as the strongest in the group and as genuinely mixed, because that is what it is, and he compares an injected preparation with the established medical treatments rather than with nothing. Where the material is proposed as an addition to another procedure, he asks what the result would have been without it, and where nobody has asked that, he says so.

Adding something is not the same as improving something
Where two treatments are given in one session, a good result belongs to the session and cannot be credited to either part without a comparison. The addition is usually the part studied least, and it is the part most often described as though its contribution had been measured.
